Tired, battered and bruised...
But Team Blacks Bravo pulled through together, played with so much heart and won ourselves a third placing in our debut season in the Guiness Womens Rugby 15s league.
Brava, Bravo. Brava.
It's a vicious, vicious cycle. Honeymoon periods are sweet as corn syrup then it turns sour...like the contents of a stomachache. Worst thing is when it happens without warning. You feel the pain and helpless bewilderment of a clubbed seal.
It's the world's fault that people are jaded, not believing in the power of love, uncaring about humanity. Backstabbers are running rampant on our TV screens and the paper chase is the only race we care about. Not the human race. We elevate pieces of paper to the highest pedestals and they are our gods. We pray that material success brings us happiness when all we actually have to do is embrace being alive. But the biggest sin is the frequent crushing of those who attempt to add colour to our greying world. How often have you been too busy to entertain a friend?
No wonder the most common afflictions of romance story characters are trust issues. People identify, people empathize, people sympathize, people want to escape the reality of their own soured, screwed up life. But maybe this makes happy endings all the more sweeter. Living vicariously through the make-believe people, at least you have someone to feel happy for/about.
Why, yes. I do feel rather emo(tional). Thanks for noticing.
