Been To, Back From...Bintan.
Quick update before I continue playing Facebook Poker.*I finally crossed the 100k mark. Go me.*
Left for Bintan on Sunday.
Stayed at the Bintan Lagoon Resort. Really nice place, 5 stars and all that.
Wish it wasn't so cloudy though. My idea of a great holiday is playing with the sea, letting the sun warm you inside out and scouting for hermit crabs and other assorted marine creatures.
Went kayaking, spent most of the time in the pool, played laser tag which was freaking insanely fun even though I played with my brother, sister and dad, and had mega cravings for burgers.
So ends the abbreviated version of my holiday.

It's Hiroshima And Nagasaki All Over Again.
I have to join Rockmaster '09 Open.It's in 4 days time.
I haven't been climbing. Like. REALLY. HAVE NOT. BEEN. CLIMBING.
I'm going to perform like a 70-year old at a foam party.
EPIC FAIL.
And of all places to embarrass myself, it has to be at the beautiful Marina Barrage, overlooking the cityscape of Singapore. Sigh.
I hope I don't get into the finals. Then I can escape to Bintan for some sea, sand and sun with a clear conscience. It just so happens that I'm ferry-ing off on Sunday, 21st June = Open finals. Excellent planning Sarah my dear.
Wonderful piece of news (to me at least. Not so much to my future roomie THE DESTROYER). I managed to get a place in hall again next year. Hall 8. Alright la. Nearer to NIE than 9. And now all the halls in that area have aircon~ Woot. So that's one accomodation-worry-free year. 2 more to go. But by then, Bee would be in NTU (hopefully) so maybe I can be illegal with him.
Have I mentioned that Adam Lambert absolutely rocks? He rocks, he stones, he boulders. He's irrefutably amazing. I love him. Gayness and all. His voice is hot.
And while I'm going about my little life, I'm wishing all the time that Bee was with me. We went to Fad's commissioning parade with Fad's friend, Sab. And according to Bee, she was surprised that we'd been together for so long cos apparently we acted like we'd just got together. My heart felt like it had been tossed into a toaster oven for a few warm, wonderful moments. :)

#1 - Captain Jack Sparrow
Actor: Johnny Depp
How can you not love this kooky, crazy, quirky, rum-drinking, ship-stealing pirate???
His piratical code of honour gives him some measure of gentility and hey, at least he's got some idea of what's right and what's wrong. Better than some hypocritical people who think they're always right and you're always wrong.
Not only that, Johnny Depp is one of THE most talented actors the modern world has ever seen.
He's hot.
And he's funny.
Nuff said.
#2 - Patrick Verona
Actor: Heath Ledger
I couldn't find a proper photo but this is good enough. His smile is heart-meltingly sweet and I am going to keep speaking in the present tense even though he's dead.
Patrick Verona is my favourite type of hero. A misunderstood bad boy on the outside and ultimate good guy on the inside. Someone who doesn't give a shit about rules but falls hard for that special girl and continues to break rules for her. Everyone together now...AWWWWW.
#3 - Gregory House, M.D.
Actor: Hugh Laurie
The anti-hero of medicine, House is brilliant, has wonderfully piercing blue eyes and doesn't give a fuck about the rest of the world. BUT he will do anything (including getting people drunk and patients to drink each other's pee) to save a person's life. Heroic indeed.
His motto is "Everybody lies". Says something about how he looks at the world, doesn't it. Sadly, his observations are right most of the time. No wonder he doesn't like people. And that's the reason I like him. No bullshit. I salute you, Dr. House.
#4 - Jack Skellington
Actor: Tim Burton
No, Tim Burton didn't voice him, but he did bring him to life and that's what matters here. Jack Skellington has become something of a cult symbol with the Ah gang in Singapore (you know...the Ah Lians and Ah Bengs), most of which I think don't even know how to pronounce his name.
The movie is an entertaining macabre mix of noir comedy and naivete, much like Corpse Bride. Tim Burton is an excellent director and I hope he makes more of these stop-action movies. Jack was created in a flash of genius, from his ingenuous interpretation of Sandy Claws to his bat bowtie. He just felt sick and tired of his job and wanted a change in scenery. Doesn't that ring a bell?

#5 - Aladdin / Genie
Actor: Scott Weinger / Robin Williams
Okay so I don't know who the actor is. But Aladdin is my favourite human prince. And Aladdin is the only Disney movie that doesn't have a Disney princess at its heart. Aladdin is a Prince Charming and charming he is. I'll have to put Genie here too because he really is one of my favourite Disney characters and cannot NOT be mentioned. They can share a spot.
Did I mention he also has a monkey? How cool is that.
#6 - Dustfinger (Inkheart) (I like the book too!)
Actor: Paul Bettany
Not really a hero and not really a villain. A coward with spasmodic intervals of heroics. Why do I like him? Because he's real. He's just a normal man who wants to get home to his wife. And who's willing to do just about anything to do so. He didn't ask to get thrown into an unfamiliar world. He didn't ask for Capricorn's (the villain) attention. All he wanted to do was play with his friend, my favourite element, fire. And his furrier friend, Gwin the ferret (see, he likes animals too).
Oh, and the scene where he did his fire juggling and fiery stunts (with his shirt off, I might add) was incredibly hot. Too bad I can't find a picture of it. Let's just say he was absolutely mesmerizing and let your imagination do the rest.
#7 - Yoda
Actor: He is no actor. The Force acts within him.
He puts to rest every lame comment about little green men. This wise Jedi Master of all Jedi Masters is freaking amazing with a light saber and the Force is strong within this one. And he is cute, in an utterly respectful way.
I think he has a sister named Yaddle. She appeared in my Star Wars Game of Life.
That's it! That's the end of my list of movie loves. I decided to keep it at 7 cos that's my favourite number. Also, if I didn't give myself a limit, I would have gone on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on...............................yep.

Kicked Off. Keeled Over. Knocked Out.
I am so tired now.On less than 6 hours of sleep and still recovering from the late night run, I was supposed to meet Melala at 8.30am to go for our sailing level 1. Alarm rang at 7.15, I snoozed until 8am, jolted out of bed, changed, packed and zoomed to the station. Luckily she was late too.
My breakfast for a morning of sailing? About 200mL of blackcurrant-flavoured Glucolin. By the time lunch came, I was ready to inject sugar syrup into my veins. Because of all the running on low energy and sugar cravings, I had a Sarsi float (I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!) and a Sarsi with a mountain of nasi goreng ayam for lunch. At least 5 months pregnant after that. Urgh.
After lunch was theory + theory test tips for the theory test at the end of the day. The instructors are like Mr Kunalan. They want you to pass so they give you lots of excellent tips. *wink wink* The thing is, halfway through theory, someone's handphone kept going off, sounding sms after sms, call after call. Turned out to be Ben's. Why?
Turns out that EXAM RESULTS COME OUT TODAY.
Not 6th June or 9th June like people have been thinking.
GAH. So completely unprepared for that bombshell. But it turns out that I did pretty well for my exams. :)
