Oíche Shona Shamhna.

From Wikipedia:

Halloween has origins in the ancient festival known as Samhain (pronounced sow-in or sau-an), which is derived from Old Irish and means roughly "summer's end". This was a Gaelic festival celebrated mainly in Ireland and Scotland. However, similar festivals were held by other Celts – for example the festival of Calan Gaeaf (pronounced kalan-geyf) which was held by the ancient Britons.

The festival of Samhain celebrates the end of the "lighter half" of the year and beginning of the "darker half", and is sometimes regarded as the "Celtic New Year". The celebration has some elements of a festival of the dead. The ancient Celts believed that the border between this world and the Otherworld became thin on Samhain, allowing spirits (both harmless and harmful) to pass through. The family's ancestors were honoured and invited home whilst harmful spirits were warded off. It is believed that the need to ward off harmful spirits led to the wearing of costumes and masks. Their purpose was to disguise oneself as a harmful spirit and thus avoid harm.
There's magick afoot. A dog or a wolf? A child's laugh or a witch's cackle? A mote of dust or a faery? A cat or a familiar? Let your imagination and spirit free. Follow them and wander amongst the otherworlders.

Magick flourishes where there is Earth. Don't be surprised if all you find here is concrete. Unyielding and inflexible. Mother Nature gave birth to magick and its wielders, not Man. Time must be taken to find those who cherish magick, those who use its fair form for wondrous tasks, those who still believe.

Samhain isn't a holiday celebrating evil. It's a holiday acknowledging the presence of those who belong elsewhere but whose mark is indelible upon the world.

These are only my thoughts. There are others who feel differently of course. Like this dude.

The title of this post is pronounced "ee-hah shona how-na". No prizes for guessing what it means.

Gamester.

It's really interesting how many people are getting into the word game in my previous post!
Apparently, PESS people are not just about brawn. ;)

CURRENT HIGH SCORE: 312,956
HIGHEST LEVEL REACHED: 55

Beat that kids.

KIDDING! It's all in good fun~ :D It's bonding to help one another come up with words like "xenophobia" and "yibit" (it's a word!!!). All for one, one for all, right gang?

But CS still rocks my shoes, socks and other articles of clothing.

I think I'm making up for all those lost years of my parents' no-nintendo, no-playstation, no-gamingdevices policy. I and my brother had to keep running over to the neighbours' houses to play Street Fighter and DDR and Super Mario.

Anyway, now all sorts of funky fun games can be found online and the world is my oyster, mussel, mollusc, shellfish, keratinised invertebrate.

GAME ON.

Psycho or socio??? The agony of making decisions.

I am so tired I'm seeing whole solar systems, not just stars.
But I think it's due for an update though.
Ruggerby weekend.

Saturday

A few of the NTU girls, avec moi, joined the Blacks in friendly games against SRC, Bucks and some NZ Navy girls whose ship just got in. Pretty fun night. Blacks won 2 and drew against NZ. I played 1.5 games and got fucking speared into the ground and smashed around by the NZ girls who were all easily twice my size. They didn't hit hard; they just played dirty. Slapping heads and pulling hair and all. Got elbowed in the nose by accident too. Fortunately the worst injury I have is just a scrapecubed(^3). Thank god for inventing scrum caps.

All in all, I felt good after the games. Which is how it should be.

Sunday

Training with Blacks + game against NUS. Wasn't feeling quite up to it so I was kinda half-hearted about everything. Oops. Never mind I'm psyching up for the cup/bowl/plate games on Thursday.

Stuffz

I realised that I blogged about more thought-provoking stuff when I was in poly (For reference, check out Ye Olde Blogg on the left). I think it's because back then, I was just discovering myself and life's mysteries were all still fresh as morning dew.

Now, I think I pretty much know what I believe in, what I want myself to be and where I'd like my life to go. Hence. No more needing to put all my muddled, hormone-assaulted thoughts in writing so I can examine the inside of my head better. Spring cleaning is done and *hopefully* what shouldn't belong has been swept out my ear in poofs of dust and moths.

I'm happy being me.

With that, I leave you with this short funny-as-hell clip about a fairy who couldn't escape the clutches of the evil...uh...rhino?

Addicted To That RUSH.

Rockin' weekend~

Saturday

Alright not much here. Just training in the morning at the Saints' nice soft turf. Azura's knee popped. Please pop it back and GET WELL SOON!!! :(

SUNDAY

Salomon X-trail Run in the morning. 10km of dirt bike trail in Tampines. Crazy route. Full of uphills, downhills and waist-deep splashes into mud. It was a very scenic run though. If I could I would totally go there to watch the sunrise.

It was Bee's FIRST RUN! So proud of you Bee. :)

After the run, me and mine went to Afghanistan for brunch. Totally rockin' naan they've got there. Class. We have to go. No more Al-Ameen shit. Dan please take note.

Concussion ensued at home after brunch. Woke up to go for training with the Blacks at the Saints' grounds yet again (getting kind of bored of that place SOMEONE PLEASE PETITION FOR A LADIES' RESTROOM). Training was just okay. Really need to work on ball handling skills. Fingers seem to be perpetually smeared with butter, grease and a good helping of ghee. Maybe I should get grip gloves. Or invoke my spidey powers. Whichever is easier.

Poor Sam got her ACL torn by a tackle. PLEASE GET WELL SOON TOO! :(

Bathed and refreshed after training, I met Bee and we had a REALLY good dinner at Billy Bomber's. I don't remember their food ever tasting so nice. The cheese fries are da BOMB.

The highlight of the day came after dinner...

Clockwise from left: Billy Sheehan (bassist), Paul Gilbert (lead guitarist), Pat Torpey (drums), Eric Martin (lead vocals)

ZOMGz. The concert at Fort Canning was all about the ROCK baby!!! I've never seen a band, where the average age of each member indicates a pending mid-life crisis, enjoy the rush of rock and roll so much. Addicted to that rush indeed. :D

The concert lasted from about 830pm till about 1030++pm. They had so much energy and were so obviously INTO the music, it was so amazing. I'm grinning just thinking about them. ^^ They came back for TWO! 2!!! encores and in the last one, they all switched instruments and took turns singing and playing. Multi-talented musicians all of them. + they all had really nice voices though Eric Martin's hoarse bluesy sexy voice is still my eternal favourite. Ahhh~*hearts* Paul Gilbert is really a freaking AWESOME guitarist and he's starting to rank all the way up there with Slash on my favourite fingerists list. He played his axe not just with his fingers but with a power drill and his mouth/teeth/tongue. HOW FUCKING SICK IS THAT?!?!?! Not to mention he doesn't do drugs. Billy Sheehan slayed his bass solos (total bass pwnage baby) and the whole crowd was just yelling his name, wanting him to jam with Gilbert. Which he did for an absolutely legendary session of guitar sex~

AAAAAND I almost died on the spot when they each whipped out double-necked axes to jam!!! ZOMGGGz~ It was rock heaven and the angels were playing. GAWD. I was literally swooning on my little grass patch. Sheehan had this lime green double-necked bass and Gilbert's looked a little like it was covered with mother-of-pearl but I really couldn't see properly and who cares anyway THEY WERE SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They completely shredded the guts outta their guitars man.

Oh and the part where they switched instruments and did a song? Gilbert was on drums, Pat Torpey took over the bass, Eric Martin (love him!) rocked the lead guitar and Sheehan started to sing....SMOKE OVER WATER.

AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! I have to admit here I totally went into a fangirl squealing frenzy when I heard those first few riffs.

JANGJANGJAAAAANG~!~!~! Classic!!! If you, dear reader, don't know this rock anthem, you really should shoot yourself in the foot or at least bash a ukelele over your head cos you don't have ROCK in your soul.

Such a fucking awesome concert. Totally love them. PLEASE COME BAAACK!!!

I'm sorry I've run out of adjectives to describe it and them. Awesome basically covers just about everything.

The Eye Of The Beholder.

There's someone I would like you all to meet.

Check out the first link under "Groms" on the left there.

<------------- Chase the Cthulhu Fairy.

She was my vet science classmate, did my tattoo, is a freaking good artist and a fellow Johnny Depp fanatic.

Seriously, just check out her drawings. They never fail to wow me with their subtle messages and undercurrents of dark beauty.

CAUTION: Not for the faint-hearted. Might contain scenes of blood and boobies.

The Future Is In OUR Hands.

I wonder if MOE knows who and what they are hiring to lead the future generations.

An amazing spur-of-the-moment lightning quick decision was made to go play Counter Strike (hereforeafter known as CS) at a LAN gaming shop at some ulu mini shopping mall at Choa Chu Kang. This was to kill about 2.5 hours of time before M&E class at 730pm.

SO. Caleb, Kumar, Dan and me went off in Caleb's smelly van to go do some headshots. The shop was kinda full when we got there so we decided to have dinner first. We had bubble tea and....wait for it....two bottles of Heineken.

I'm still burping up beer aftertaste. YUCKS can. All Dan's fault. And this was BEFORE a class. Not after. I could barely tell obese from overweight...oh wait. The school BMI system can't do that either. Spare some pity for the ruggers, people.

Anyway, CS was really fun and I totally absolutely miss playing it. I held up my end of the game pretty well, if I do say so myself. Caleb was just throwing grenades everywhere in the office map and getting ambushed in the parking lot. Haha. Me, I just got lost. Stupid map. We had a knife fight too which of course ended pretty quickly when Caleb pulled out his dual berettas. Then Dan managed to do a kinda awesome jumping-stab to Caleb's head and slayed him.

Damn fun guys. But I really shouldn't hang out with you retards so often. I can only take so many toilet jokes about nose shit and other bodily excretions.

Till next time, Mamba, BOMBSHELL, JEANSTER and harry tan damn good at cs.
